Harvey Weinstein se crece

Ya hemos señalado en nuestro análisis que el productor Harvey Weinstein ha sido sin duda uno de los grandes triunfadores de las nominaciones. "The reader" ha obtenido finalmente cinco candidaturas, entre ellas película, director y actriz protagonista para "The reader". Sin duda, todo un éxito para un film que no partía como favorita para lograr dichas nominaciones.
Una vez superado con rotundo éxito las nominaciones, parece que Harvey Weinstein se ha crecido y ya no sólo se contenta con la nominación sino que aspira al triunfo.
"Nosotros tenemos posibilidades en todas las categorías. Ya vimos en el caso de "Crash" y "Brokeback Mountain" que todo puede pasar. Lo único que puedo decir es que la carrera no ha terminado. Acaba de empezar.
La nominación de mejor actriz para Kate Winslet fue la primera indicación que tuve de que podíamos lograr la candidatura de mejor film, y de no ser sólo nominados. Hablo de GANAR. Ponerla en protagonista muestra una increíble pasión por la película"

Algunas curiosidades sobre las nominaciones

1 "The curious case of Benjamin Button"se ha convertido hoy en la undécima película en recibir más de trece nominaciones a los Oscar. Toda una marca que, generalmente, trae suerte: en siete de las diez ocasiones anteriores, la película lograba el Oscar al mejor film. En tres de ellas, no. Éstas lo consiguieron:

• Titanic (1997) (14 noms)
• Gone With The Wind (1939)
• From Here to Eternity (1953)
• Forrest Gump (1994)
• Shakespeare in Love (1998)

2. Meryl Streep aumenta su récord de nominaciones con quince menciones, distanciándose de Katherine Hepburn y Jack Nicholson, que tienen 12. Sin embargo, Streep sólo ha logrado dos veces el Oscar, por lo que es la actriz con más derrotas en la historia de los premios (con o sin Oscar). Y tiene pinta de que va a sumar una más...

3. En las reacciones de los diferentes nominados, Josh Brolin ha dicho acerca de su compañero de reparto en "No country for old men", Bardem: "He recibido una llamada muy calurosa de Javier Bardem desde Madrid. Me ha dicho que al conocer la nominación se ha ido corriendo por la calle gritando de alegría". ¡Así que al loco que he visto corriendo por la calle era Bardem! :P

4. Sí, Bardem puede darle el Oscar a Penélope Cruz. Sería un momento histórico, pero... ¿quién asegura que Bardem va a ir a la ceremonia? Ningún actor está obligado a ello. Recordemos que el domingo pasado, Bardem no fue a los Globos de Oro e incluso estaba nominado.

5. Como bien se ha dicho en el chat, "Wall-E" logra igualar el récord de "La bella y la bestia" en obtención de nominaciones para una película animada: seis. Y yo hubiera sumado una más con una nominación a mejor actriz secundaria para Eva. Pero ya se sabe, la Academia nunca acierta... :P

Análisis: El triunfo de Harvey Weinstein

A Harvey Weinstein, la jugada le ha salido redonda. Cuando negociaba (por no decir, se peleaba) con el otro gran productor de la película, Scott Rudin, el lanzamiento para este año de la película, todos sabíamos el gran riesgo que corría. La película todavía no estaba acabada (faltaba montarla y la banda sonora), el director Stephen Daldry le pedía más tiempo y para colmo, la estrella de la película, Kate Winslet, no quería competir contra sí misma por su otro papel en "Revolutionary Road". Al final, Harvey se salió con la suya y "The reader" fue estrenada a tiempo pese a todos los inconvenientes. Y a juzgar por las nominaciones, él tenía razón.

"The reader" ha logrado entrar en las categorías de mejor película y director, cuando la rivalidad era muy dura y pocos apostaban por esa posibilidad. Pero no sólo eso: en el perfecto azar, Kate Winslet ha logrado entrar en la categoría de mejor actriz protagonista por "The reader", no logra la doble nominación y eso motiva que casi pueda decirse que es la virtual ganadora del Oscar. ¿O es que alguien lo duda? Todos claman por fin su victoria y tuvieron que ser los Globos de Oro quienes materializaran ese deseo con dos Globos de Oro. Sin una rival fuerte en la categoría (Streep ya tiene muchos Oscar y Hathaway se ha quedado sola con su nominación por "Rachel getting married"), las cosas parecen estar del lado de la británica. Por fin, a la sexta será la vencida, la Winslet no se irá con las manos vacías.

La única nominación de Kate Winslet beneficia a Penélope Cruz, que se convierte en la favorita para el Oscar a la mejor actriz secundaria. Pero desde luego no lo tiene ganado. Cruz comenzó muy fuerte la temporada de premios llevándose todo, pero Marisa Tomei y Viola Davis se han erigido como dos grandes rivales para ella. "Doubt" ha conseguido cinco nominaciones y ésta es quizá la única categoría en la que puede aspirar a llevarse algo por el papel de Viola Davis, aunque ouede haber una pequeña división de votos por la nominación de su compañera Amy Adams. Mientras, Tomei ha sido la más premiada por la crítica, aunque su Oscar por "My cousin Vinny" en 1993 le puede pesar. Y tampoco podemos perder de vista a Taraji P. Henson, que puede acabar dando la sorpresa.

En actor secundario sólo hay un nombre: Heath Ledger. Mientras, en la categoría de protagonista, el tío Oscar se lo disputarán Mickey Rourke y Sean Penn, con un Frank Langella expectante.

Tal como se esperaba, "The curious case of Benjamin Button" ha logrado ser la película más nominada. Le saca tres nominaciones a "Slumdog millionaire" que se queda con diez candidaturas, un número superior al que daban los pronósticos. Entre ambos está la victoria y la diatriba parece clara: ¿retrocederá la Academia en el tiempo para volver a premiar un film grandilocuente y de línea argumental clásica como la película de Fincher o se dejará imbuir por el espíritu regenerador de “Slumdog millionaire”?La película de Boyle cuenta con el respaldo de los Globos de Oro y de gran parte de la crítica. "Benjamin Button" llega poco laureado a estos Oscar, pero todo parece indicar que la guerra entre ambos está muy abierta.

A partir de ahora, sólo queda esperar. Los Oscar ya están al caer.

"The reader" logra la nominación a mejor

1. "The curious case of Benjamin Button" lidera las nominaciones con trece nominaciones. le sigue con diez "Slumdog millionaire" y con ocho, "The dark knight" y "Milk".

2. Kate Winslet no logra el doblete pero se asegura casi un Oscar compitiendo como mejor actriz por "The reader"

3. Clint Eastwood, ignorado como mejor actor y sólo recoge tres nominaciones por "Changeling" en apartados técnicos más la nominación de Jolie. Sally Hawkins, fuera de mejor actriz. Michael Shannon entra en actor secundario, pero "Revolutionary Road" sólo logra tres candidaturas.

4. "Waltz with Bashir" no logra entrar en película de animación pero sí logra la nominación en película extranjera. La mexicana "Arráncame la vida" se queda fuera del último corte.

5. Sorpresones en la categoría de mejor guión original con las inclusiones de "Frozen river" e "In bruges".Woody Allen se queda sin nominación.

6. "Slumdog millionaire" logra doble nominación en mejor canción. A. R. Rahman también está nominado como mejor compositor.

POST Nº500: Forest Whitaker presentará las nominaciones

La Academia de Hollywood ha hecho oficial que el actor ganador de un Oscar Forest Whitaker presentará junto al presidente de la Academia Sid Ganis las nominaciones al Oscar 2009 de este jueves. Desde 2005 (Adrian Brody) ningún actor masculino presentaba las nominaciones.
La breve ceremonia será a las 14.30h. hora española y en ella se darán a conocer los nominados en las categorías de película, director, actor, actriz, actor secundario, actriz secundaria, guión original, guión adaptado, película animada y película extranjera. El resto de nominados se conocerán en la web oficial de los premios: www.oscar.com
